In the past I'm sure you have tried natural recipes for a sore throat and cough that just didn't kick in soon enough for your liking, am I right? Well if that's you I'm about to kick that thought right across the yard, because that was me too, until I discovered these essential oils for my sore throat.

Top 3 Essential Oils For Sore Throat

No argument, there is a bunch of essential oils out there on the market that have some powerful benefits. But there are only 3 that I find myself running to, whenever I am feeling under the weather, and they have not let me down in 3+ years.

These three essential oils will be a game changer for my oil loving newbies that are reading this article. The oils are Tea Tree Oil, Lemon Oil, and Oregano Oil. Now if you don't want to get all three, I strongly suggest trying the oregano oil.

Benefits Of Tea Tree Oil

I chose tea tree oil in this sore throat remedy because it has bacteria fighting properties, so it is a great option to fight the germs flowing through our bodies when we are sick. The best way to use this is adding a few drops in a roller blend bottle diluted with a carrier oil. A carrier oil is a oil to help protect your skin when applying these oils topically.

Now that's not the only benefit of tea tree oil, it's about 30 other ways you can use this. So definitely a good oil to keep around the house. But you should be very careful if you have children or pets because it can be toxic to them. I encourage you to research more about this before trying this oil out.

Benefits of Lemon Oil

Lemon oil is probably no surprise to you, especially if you grew up around an older person. I really can't think of a time when I was growing up, got sick, and didn't have to drink tea with lemon. I carried that over into adulthood as well.

Before I discovered oils, I've always attempted natural remedies for colds, I used to put ginger, a few pieces of lemon and garlic, into a cup and poured hot water over it, and let it sit. After a few minutes I would strain it and drink it like tea.

I would drink however many cups I needed until I no longer felt that tickle in my throat and it worked eventually. But when I discovered essential oils such as lemon, it got easier. Because lemon essential oil is great for supporting the immune system. But it's more potent, so a couple drops worked better than the few pieces of lemon I used to use.

Benefits Of Oregano Oil

Oregano, oh how I love oregano! This is my secret weapon and if you ignored the other two options please don't ignore this one. Oregano is a powerful natural antibiotic, and bacteria fighting essential oil. This is one of the oils, that made me an oil loving believer, because I seen it work on myself instantly.

One day, I had a sore throat and it was really bad, the tea I mentioned above wasn't working, so I decided I'll try putting that oil on my chest topically. My sore throat went away instantly. This oil is very strong, and will burn if you don't dilute it right, so please use a carrier oil if you plan on applying it directly to your skin and honestly that goes for all oils you apply to your skin.

The Recipe For Naturally Getting Rid Of Sore Throat

Take a roller blend bottle, and fill it up almost to the top, then add about 3 drops of tea tree, 3 drops of lemon, and 3-4 drops of oregano. To go even more powerful, you can add oils such as Peppermint or Rosemary as well.

Shake well and apply to your chest area twice a day. If you want to opt out the roller bottle, you can pour the recipe in your hand rub together and rub on chest, kinda like you would do with vix vapor rub back in the day.

It is Power In Nature

Nature is so powerful, sometimes our minds and others would try to convince us that natural takes longer to work. That isn't always true, when I first tried this recipe my sore throat was gone the same day. I know results vary, but hopefully this idea will help you come up with a solution for your sore throat.

About the author

I started my natural journey a few years ago after my friends and I started showing too many signs of hormonal imbalance and other health problems. It was so uncomfortable hearing my only option was pills. I decided to change my lifestyle originally out of fear. I eventually decided to try living a low toxic life. But the more I started discovering new products and trying Natural DIY recipes I started seeing results and it became a lifestyle. I learned how to shop with a tiny budget, and I realized I didn't have to miss out on anything, I just had to learn how to go natural on a budget.
